Climbing, Gym & Services

What to expect while climbing and using the gym.

What is the difference between bouldering and climbing with a rope and harness?

Bouldering is a type of climbing without ropes or harnesses, where climbers may fall directly onto the ground.

The routes are called “boulder problems” and vary in difficulty. We provide industry-standard padding below each wall to help protect falls. While the padding reduces impact, please note that any fall can be a risk of injury, regardless of the height of the fall. For your safety, all new climbers and visitors will receive an orientation, including falling techniques, to minimize the risk of injury.

What is climbing etiquette at PBG?
  • Inspect the Problem: Check the route to ensure it doesn’t intersect with others.
  • Respect Fall Zones: Stay at least arm’s length away from other climbers and their fall zones.
  • Downclimb When Possible: Always try to downclimb to reduce fall impact. If jumping, check the area below for other climbers.
  • Fall Safely: Spot your landing, stay relaxed, and absorb the impact by bending your knees. Avoid extending your arms to catch your fall.
  • Footwear & Chalk: No barefoot climbing or wearing shoes in the bathroom. Minimize chalk use and consider liquid chalk.
  • Personal Items: Use lockers for water bottles and personal items—don’t leave them on the floor or benches.
  • Be Courteous: Wait your turn, respect others’ climbs, and brush holds after use.
How do I know how difficult a boulder problem is?

At Progression, we use the V-Grade system. V0 is the easiest and V10+ is the most difficult.

How tall are the climbing walls and adjustable walls?

Our bouldering walls are 16ft high.

The Kilterboad is 16’X12’ and the Tensionboard 2.0 is 12’X12’.
